Summer is painfully hot already and whether you’re just trying to avoid melting on the sidewalk or you’re traveling across the world, there’s an app for that. These mobile apps for summer will save you time, money, and make all your endeavors easier and more enjoyable.
If you’re anything like me and tend to forget to pack your underwear or toothbrush when you go on vacation, then you probably need this app. It asks where you’re traveling to and when and finds the weather for that place and time to help you choose the clothes you need to pack. It also has activities (like hiking or swimming) that you can choose from and it will give you a list of things you’ll need for that activity. You can even share your lists with your friends if you need to coordinate who’s going to bring certain items.
This app is perfect for those of us with transparent white skin who can’t go outdoors for five minutes without looking like a tomato afterwards. You tell it your skin type, location, and the number of SPF you’re using and it tells you how long you can stay in the sun before you get burned.
For the people who will be traveling and don’t want to miss out on any events, this app will give you information about art, music, or any other events going on wherever you’re traveling to. Just enter what you’re looking for and it pulls up anything within that category going on in your area.
TripIt works for the unorganized traveler so you don’t have to worry about losing your itineraries or missing any flights. All you have to do is forward your itineraries to the app and it keeps them all stored in one place so you can plan your flight to the rental car to the hotel check in time without worrying about being late. It also has map and driving directions in case you’re unsure of where you’re going.
This app is incredibly helpful if you’re traveling around countries where you don’t speak the language. You just open the camera in the app and point it at a sign or menu or whatever you need to read and it translates it for you. It can separate the backgrounds from the text to make it easier for you, but it can’t always translate very curvy, scripty fonts.
If you’re taking a road trip with multiple stops and destinations along the way, you can put in your starting point, ending point, and all points in between and it will show you the best route to take. It’s pretty simple but will save you from driving extra hours everywhere you go.
This app finds coffee shops, rest stops, gas stations, or any places you may need to make a quick stop at on your road trip so you don’t end up driving miles and miles off your route just to find a bathroom.
Getmyboat is similar to Airbnb, except for boats. You can rent speed boats, jet skis, house boats, or even yachts in over 90 countries from people who own them. This way, you get to feel like Jordan Belfort on your yacht without actually having to buy one.
