Show Me the Money!
Before you give up your day job and free time on this project consider this: How will an investor evaluate your mobile app. Don’t over promise or boast about your app too soon. It could become the next Candy Crush or Snapchat or it could become nothing, forgotten in the app graveyard. Make sure to have an appreciation of risk. Don’t get your suspenders in a knot though, be positive and present your app focusing on key points that show your product and its potential for greatness! Investors won’t fund projects they don’t think can make it.
Looks Like We Are Movin!
So your project got some traction? You lucky son of a gun! While this is all great news now the actual work really begins. Whether it’s your 10th or 10,000th prototype people are still using your app and getting engaged! There just seems to be one question….
What do you do now?
Don’t start eyeballing real estate in Cambodia just yet, and put down that bottle of Cristal! Your current success is a big step towards your overall goal. Next you need to focus on investors. There are plenty of guidelines and step by steps out there on how to get more investors, but no two paths are alike. Most make the mistake of trying to convince investors with their pitch. Why do that when you can let your startup do the work for you. If you start by understanding why your startup is worth investing in, then simply explained that to the investors.
Don’t Stop Believin’
When I was young and working on a project or idea my dad would always ask me about it. Week after week, he would keep tabs on my progress and make sure that I was doing something towards that goal. “Doing something for your project no matter how little is a step in the right direction. If you can work on a small piece of it day by day its progress”. That has stayed with me from high school through college and everything in between until now. In the beginning, an idea is new and fresh and exciting but as you work on it the difficulties begin to present themselves. This is no easy task and you may work at this for a long time before you have any real idea whether you’re going to succeed. Plenty of sleepless nights and unfruitful weekends can take their toll, but nothing worth having comes easy. There are both challenges and successes ahead, where it will take you, I can’t say. What I can tell you is that it will be worth the trip!
